Maximum safety and functionality
Quality from Sprenger
Are you looking for a bit or stirrup and only want the best for your horse? Then take a look at what the traditional company Sprenger has to offer. The company has been offering a huge selection of high-quality bits, spurs and stirrups for decades. The manufacturer attaches great importance to flawless workmanship, but does not ignore functionality. The strict quality controls that all Sprenger products have to undergo still characterise the company's reputation today and ensure that riders feel safe.
HS Sprenger - Many innovations, one brand
The Sprenger company has been associated with major innovations for years. For example, the company developed the Aurigan alloy for use in bits. It is still patented today and is one of the company's trademarks.
The KK Ultra model was the first bit to be elaborately adapted to the horse's mouth and was recognised worldwide as a result. I'm sure many of you have held a bit in your hand and looked for the arrow. This refers to the inconspicuous arrow at the strongest point of the bit, which always belongs on the left side of the horse's mouth when it is buckled into the snaffle. The arrow is to a certain extent the trademark of the snaffle and curb bits from Spenger.
In addition to bits, the Iserlohn-based company also manufactures spurs and stirrups for equestrian sports. The product range also includes boat fittings and products for dog sports.
The family business was founded in 1872 as a factory for horse and harness fittings in the Sauerland region. Today, around 160 employees work to ensure that Sprenger products meet the highest quality standards worldwide. All products labelled with the HS logo are manufactured at the production site in Iserlohn - quality made in Germany!
High-quality plastic bits
Nathe bits
Sprenger has taken over the distribution of Nathe bits since 2020. The advantage lies in the further improvement of quality, functionality and design. The high-quality synthetic bits are manufactured in Germany and perfectly round off the Sprenger bit concept. The Nathe range includes curb bits, snaffle bits and water snaffles. Each bit is manufactured with care from thermoplastic. The new logo on the left side of the bits now characterises the high-quality bits and distinguishes them from inferior competitor products.
The advantages of Nathe bits
- Made from high-quality thermoplastic
- are particularly suitable for sensitive and mouth-sensitive dentures
- hypoallergenic and offer a very high level of compatibility
- Food-safe and also free from plasticisers and solvents
- Smooth surface without eraser effect
- temperature-neutral and still flexible even at low temperatures
- dimensionally stable and have a high mechanical strength
- A steel core in the standard bits ensures safety (except 110 mm sizes)
- The side parts and rings are made of high-quality stainless steel
- "Made in Germany
Why are Nathe bits so special?
Nathe bits are the only broken bits in equestrian sport where the connectors (i.e. the centrepiece) are also made of plastic. This means that the entire mouthpiece is made of plastic. This is particularly valuable for horses that are allergic to metal. As the joints are made of anti-allergenic plastic, there is no reaction in the corner of the mouth. Even horses that do not accept metal so well usually react positively to Nathe bits in the horse's mouth. A horse that is happy with the bit leads to improved chewing activity and greater willingness to perform.
The effect of the rider's hand is the same as with conventional stainless steel or Sensogan bits. There is no difference in handling between the snaffle and the curb bit. It is therefore still your responsibility to choose the right size and width of bit. You can find out exactly how to measure a bit in our magazine article "Measuring a bit - how to find the right bit for your horse".
