This will make your ride unforgettable

Riding out & enjoying nature

The sun is shining and with it comes the desire to finally ride through the woods, meadows and fields again. Whether alone, with friends or your stable team: a ride out is not only relaxing, but also strengthens the bond between you and your horse. We have put together some tips, inspiration and product recommendations so that you can enjoy a safe and carefree ride.

Take a deep breath

Why riding is so good for us

Fresh air & sunlight not only promote the well-being of riders, but also the metabolism and immune system of horses.

A change from arena training: the terrain activates new stimuli, trains balance and sure-footedness. It's also good to simply unwind on the trail after the long winter.

Strengthening the bond: A relaxed ride out without the pressure to perform ensures trust and fun.

Protection for you

Travelling safely

The path through woods and meadows also harbours small risks. With the right equipment, you can ensure safety and comfort.

  • Well-fitting riding helmet: a must, even for experienced riders!
  • Safety waistcoat or airbag waistcoat for more protection on uneven terrain
  • Reflectors for horse and rider in case you come back late or ride in the shade
  • Mobile phone: Always with you, just in case. You can set newer smartphones to send an emergency signal to your emergency contacts with your GPS location in the event of a fall

Suitably equipped

The right equipment for your horse

You shouldn't just protect yourself on a ride. Your horse also needs different equipment on the road than in the riding arena.

  • A comfortable saddle with a good fit - particularly important for longer distances. The saddle should also be comfortable for you, but it should also fit the horse well
  • Gaiters & bell boots if you are travelling over hill and dale or through the forest. Special off-road gaiters provide extra protection against knocks and branches on the ground
  • Fly protection such as ear masks or sprays - especially near water or on warm days, midges, horse flies etc. can be a real nuisance and annoy your horse. Ensure safety in advance with a fly rug, fly ears and fly spray

Arrived home safely

After the ride

When you get back to the stable, you should cool and check your horse's legs. Minor injuries caused by stones and branches can also become infected, so be sure to scrape out the hooves to remove any stones.

Clean your saddlery if it has been wet and muddy so that you can start your next adventure without stress.

Reward your horse and of course yourself with a small treat.

Conclusion

A ride is balm for the soul - for you and your horse. With a little preparation and the right equipment, every trail ride becomes an unforgettable experience. So: get out into nature, enjoy the sunshine and just start riding!
