Description
The Velari Eggbutt with cherry-roller mouthpiece combines the advantages of Sweet Iron, a single-jointed mouthpiece and loose rollers in a well-thought-out design. The bit lies well in the horse's mouth and offers a direct, attentive connection — without unnecessary complexity.
The mouthpiece is made of Sweet Iron that oxidises naturally in use. This natural process stimulates salivation and encourages the horse to stay soft and relaxed in the mouth, which contributes to a smoother contact and a calmer, more confident way of going.
The cherry roller consists of loose rollers that discourage the horse from leaning on the bit. At the same time the rollers increase tongue activity, which further stimulates saliva production and supports the jaw in relaxing. This bit is especially suitable for horses that are hard in the mouth, lean on the bit or struggle to concentrate.
The single-jointed mouthpiece ensures direct, clear communication between rider and horse. When the rider takes up contact the joint forms a V-shape that distributes the pressure on the bars and relieves the tongue in the centre. This mouthpiece suits horses with a higher palate well. Many horses appreciate the clear, uncomplicated feel of a single-jointed mouthpiece — especially horses that prefer a defined point of aid and a stable contact.
Thanks to the eggbutt rings the mouthpiece stays more stable in the horse's mouth, prevents excessive lateral movements and reduces the risk of pinching in the corners of the mouth. This calm benefits horses that prefer a quieter bit and helps them stay securely in the contact. The fixed rings ensure even, reliable rein aids and contribute to a soft but secure connection throughout the round.

Care & use
After every ride rinse the bit with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Over time Sweet Iron forms a light patina — a natural oxidation process that improves the taste and acceptance of the bit. Store in a dry place and check regularly for even wear. Pay attention to the correct positioning of the bit: the star must be on the left side and the Velari logo on the right side.
Disclaimer
Every horse and every rider is unique. The information provided serves as a general guide — not as a definitive answer. When choosing the right bit always consider your horse's specific needs and your own experience. Lead with grace, always.
