Description
The Velari 2.5-ring bit with Sweet Iron mouthpiece and Cherry Roller bar unites fine leverage with activating tongue work – a combination that especially gives strong, unconcentrated or mouth-unsettled horses clarity and calm. It is aimed at riders who seek a reliable yet differentiated contact and always lead with feel.
The 2.5-ring combines the gentleness of a bar bit with a controlled leverage effect. Through the choice of the attachment point – rein on the lower ring – when leaning a short, clearly defined leverage arises that conveys a precise aid to the horse without overtaxing. This versatility makes the ring especially valuable when the horse needs a clearer yet still respectful contact.
The mouthpiece of Sweet Iron oxidises in use quite naturally and thereby develops a slightly sweetish taste that invites the horse to stay soft and relaxed in the mouth. The stimulating saliva production promotes smooth contact and quieter, more secure going – the horse does not work against the bit, but with it.
The loose rollers of the Cherry Roller bar occupy the tongue in a gentle way and at the same time increase tongue activity, which further stimulates saliva formation and invites the jaw to relax. At the same time the rollers make it harder for the horse to hold onto the bit or stiffen under it. For horses that tend to bolt, like to press onto the bit or lose concentration, this bar form offers an effective and horse-friendly answer.
Ideal for:
- Horses that tend to bolt or hold onto the bit
- Horses with a tendency to unrest in the mouth or lack of focus
- Horses that need activating tongue work to relax the jaw
- Horses with intermediate to advanced training level that understand clear, differentiated aids
- Riders with experience in dosing leverage and contact
- Riders who work in leisure riding or in classical disciplines and value fine, reliable communication
Care & Use
After every ride rinse the bit with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Store dry and protected and check regularly for even, smooth wear. Pay attention to correct positioning: the star must be on the left side, the Velari logo on the right.
Note
Every horse and every rider is unique. The information provided serves as general guidance — not as a final answer. Always take into account the specific needs of your horse and your own experience when choosing the right bit. Guide with grace, always
