Description
The Pelham Flex Single Jointed Short combines direct contact with light leverage, distributing pressure across the mouth, poll, and chin. The flex material ensures softer contact, promoting comfort, acceptance, and clear communication.
Constructed from a firm, non-toxic synthetic material, the surface remains smooth and safe while offering maximum clarity of aid. The material is free of harmful substances and suitable for long-term use. It avoids the coldness and unforgiving feel of traditional metal bits, making it a considered choice for riders needing more defined communication.
The double-jointed mouthpiece distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and bars, preventing the nutcracker effect and offering a smooth, stable feel. Horses that benefit from balanced pressure and a bit that follows the shape of the mouth often respond particularly well to this design. It is also a great option for horses with a lower palate, as the double-jointed construction reduces upward movement toward the roof of the mouth, providing extra comfort.
The Pelham cheekpiece includes short shanks, delivering mild leverage that’s easier for riders to regulate. Care & use
After each ride, rinse the bit with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Over time, the sweet iron will develop a light patina — a natural oxidation process that enhances taste and acceptance. Store in a dry place and check regularly for smooth, even wear.
Make sure the bit is positioned correctly: the star must be on the left side and the Velari logo on the right.
