Description
The Velari Full Cheek Gag with Cherry Roller mouthpiece of Sweet Iron unites precise guidance with gentle effect – a well thought-out interplay for horses that benefit from clear contact and activating tongue work. This combination is especially suitable for horses that tend to lean on the forehand or lean into the bit, as well as for riders who aim for a differentiated, soft connection.
The Full Cheek Gag through its characteristic side plates offers reliable lateral stabilisation of the bit and thus supports shoulder guidance and directional work – a real advantage for younger or horses still working on balance. The gag effect arises through guiding the cheekpieces through the rings and produces a fine lifting effect that causes slight poll pressure. Where additional lightness in the hand is required or a horse tends towards heaviness on the rein, this effect can with quiet precision offer exactly what is needed.
The mouthpiece of Sweet Iron develops in use naturally a slight oxidation that stimulates the horse to chew and promotes saliva production. This property invites the horse to accept the bit softly and stay relaxed in the mouth – a foundation for smooth chewing and a quieter, trusting way of going. Sweet Iron is a material that convinces through its quiet effect: not intrusive, but inviting.
The Cherry Roller brings loose rollers into play that effectively prevent biting onto the bit and at the same time specifically increase tongue activity. This movement in the mouth further stimulates saliva production, promotes jaw relaxation and gently directs the horse’s attention onto the bit. For horses that are strong in the hand, tend to grab or have difficulty keeping their concentration, the Cherry Roller offers an answer that is as friendly as it is effective.
Ideal for:
- Horses that tend to lean on the forehand or lean into the bit
- Younger or less balanced horses that benefit from clear shoulder guidance
- Horses that tend to bite onto or grab the bit
- Horses with an unsettled mouth or difficulties with concentration
- Horses with a sensitive mouth that need an inviting, non-intrusive effect
- Riders with experience in handling gag-acting bits
- Riders in disciplines that require lightness, balance and clear directional work
Care & Use
After every ride rinse the bit with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Store in a dry place and check regularly for even, smooth wear. Pay attention to correct positioning: the star must be on the left side and the Velari logo on the right side.
Note
Every horse and every rider is unique. The information provided serves as general guidance — not as a final answer. Always take into account the specific needs of your horse and your own experience when choosing the right bit. Guide with grace, always
