To match your outfit
Browbands
The browband keeps the headpiece of the bridle in place and adds a visual accent. At Lepona you will find leather browbands, classically plain or with glitter, rhinestones and metal decoration, in brown and black, in Pony, Cob and Warmblut sizes and for double bridles. To match: bridles and reins.

Finding the right browband
Above all, a browband has to fit. If it is too short, it pulls the headpiece forward against the ears. If it is too long, it sags. Only then does the look come into play.
Sizes and measuring
In the size filter you will find Mini-Shetty, Shetty, Pony, Cob, Warmblood and Warmblood Extra. Some manufacturers use their own names such as "Full" or "Over". The length in centimetres varies depending on the manufacturer and is often given in the product description. This is how to find the right length:
- Measure your existing browband: If your current browband fits well, measure its length and compare it with the figure on the product.
- Measure on the horse: Place a tape measure where the browband should sit, from the point behind one ear where the headpiece runs, across the forehead to the same point at the other ear.
- Check the fit: The browband should not pinch the ears or press on the forehead. There should still be about a finger's width of space between the strap and the forehead.
Glitter, rhinestones or classic?
Browbands come in plain smooth or plaited leather, with metal links, pearls, glitter or rhinestone trim. As well as straight models, there are curved, V-shaped and anatomical shapes. For everyday use many riders choose an understated model, for shows and photo shoots something more eye-catching. Whether a particular browband is permitted at a show is governed by the relevant show schedule and the rules. Black and brown are the most popular; many models can be colour-matched to the bridle, saddle pad or outfit.
Changing the browband on the bridle
Classic browbands have closed loops at both ends through which the headpiece and throatlatch run. To change it, undo these straps and pull them out of the loops. Some models have a button fastening at the sides or are designed for a specific bridle system. They can be swapped more quickly but will not necessarily fit every bridle. For double bridles there are browbands with larger loops that take two headpieces; they are labelled as double bridle browbands. What fits your bridle is stated on the product. Double bridles can be found under Double bridles, spare parts under Bridle accessories.
Manufacturers
Browbands in the shop are available from Kavalkade, Dy'on, Waldhausen, QHP, Passier and Trust, among others. Browbands for Shetlands can also be found in the Shetty & Mini-Shetty category.
Care
Wipe leather down after riding and care for it regularly. With rhinestones, glitter and metal trim, do not use harsh cleaning products and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
The shop offers Mini-Shetty, Shetty, Pony, Cob, Warmblood and Warmblood Extra, and with some manufacturers also "Full" or "Over". Because the lengths vary depending on the manufacturer, compare the centimetre figure on the product with a browband that already fits your horse well.
The easiest way is to measure a browband that fits well and compare the length with the product. Alternatively, place a tape measure across the forehead, from the point behind one ear where the headpiece runs to the same point at the other ear. The browband should not pinch the ears or press on the forehead.
This is mainly a question of taste and occasion. Classic leather browbands are understated, models with glitter or rhinestones make a statement. With both, it is important that the size and shape fit. Whether a model is permitted at a show is governed by the show schedule and the rules.
With classic browbands with closed loops, undo the headpiece and throatlatch and pull them out of the loops. Then thread the new browband on and check that everything sits evenly. Models with a button fastening or interchangeable system can be swapped more quickly. Whether they fit your bridle is stated on the product.
Not always. The width and shape of the loops have to match the straps of the bridle. Some browbands are designed for a specific bridle system from one manufacturer. Double bridles need browbands with larger loops for two headpieces. The details are stated on the product.
Yes. In the size filter you will find Pony, Shetty and Mini-Shetty. The selection in Shetty sizes is small. More equipment in small sizes is available in the Shetty and Mini-Shetty category.
