For a warm head and neck

Hats, headbands and scarves for riders

When it is cold in the stable in the morning and the wind sweeps across the arena, you need something warm for your head, ears and neck. Here you will find headbands for under the riding helmet, lined hats and beanies, snoods and neck warmers, many of them with fleece or teddy lining. Brands include Imperial Riding, Euro-Star, Equestro, QHP, Kentucky Horsewear, LeMieux, Pikeur, Eskadron and Samshield.

Headbands: warm ears under the helmet

A headband keeps your ears warm and leaves room on top for the riding helmet. The Eskadron Dynamic headband is made of 4-way tech jersey with a warming inside. It is cut longer at the ears and has a ponytail hole. The QHP Rayah headband has a soft fleece lining and fits well thanks to its stretch material, whether for stable work or under a hat. With the Fiore headband, Euro-Star combines ribbed knit with microfleece. At Samshield, the Simone ladies' headband features a crest embroidered with Swarovski® crystals. The LeMieux fleece ear warmer is made of elastic teddy fleece, and the Imperial Riding Reflective headband has a fleece lining and reflective details.

Hats and beanies for the stable and hacking out

For the way to the stable, stable work and hacking out without a helmet, there are hats in many versions. Many have a fleece lining, such as the Kentucky Horsewear glitter hat (100 % acrylic), the Pikeur ladies' Beanie with rhinestone appliqué or the Busse models Fanny II and Evolet. On the Busse hats, the fleece is worked into the entire headband area, and the Evolet also has a faux fur pompom. For the unisex wool hat and the rib-knit hat x FISE, Equestro uses soft wool with a turn-up. The Imperial Riding beanies Chilly, Chilly Sparkle and Belle Sparkle combine a waterproof layer with fleece lining for cold and wet days. You can pull a ponytail through the QHP Teddie hat and the Euro-Star Fergy beanie made of Polartec material; both have an opening for it.

Under the riding helmet

Thin, close-fitting models belong under the helmet. The QHP Rayah balaclava is a pull-on hat for under the riding helmet, and the Imperial Riding Cosmic Colorful beanie is a helmet beanie made of velvet jersey and fleece. Try the helmet on with the hat or headband, because it must still sit firmly and straight. You will find suitable helmets and helmet accessories under riding helmets and riding helmet accessories.

Snoods and neck warmers

When riding, snoods and neck warmers are more practical than long scarves with loose ends that you could get caught on. The LeMieux Stretch snood with four-way stretch and flat seams can also be worn under the riding helmet. Its Fleece snood is made of teddy fleece. The ANKY ATC262504 tube scarf is made of 79 % polyester and 21 % elastane, wicks moisture and is brushed on the inside. On the BR Lisalotte neck warmer (teddy fabric with fleece inside), you adjust the width with a cord and stopper, and Equestro has a neck warmer made of ribbed wool. The Imperial Riding chenille snoods Frosty Fuzz and Big Star are lined with short faux fur and feel particularly cosy. You can wear the Galaxy Multiway hood either as headwear or as a neck warmer.

Being seen in the dark season

When it gets dark early, reflective details help: Imperial Riding has the Reflective beanie, the Reflective headband and the Bright Reflection neck warmer with reflective logo print. The Chilly beanie with light has an LED light on the front. You will find more items that help you and your horse be seen better in the dark on the reflective items and visibility page. Caps without winter lining are under caps.

Small gifts for riders

Hats and headbands are popular gifts, for example the Kentucky Horsewear horse hat in three designs, the QHP Isalyn hat with unicorn print or, for the Christmas season, the QHP Christmas hat with a white pompom that you wear over the helmet. You will find more ideas among the gifts for riders and in our guide Advent calendars for riders.

Warm from head to toe through the winter

Hats and scarves go well with riding gloves, warm riding socks, winter riding jackets and winter breeches. You will find more tips in our guide Riding in winter.

Under the helmet, a headband is often the simplest solution because it only covers the ears and forehead. For the stable, the way to the paddock and hacking out without a helmet, a lined hat keeps you warmer.
