Description
This high-quality, double-jointed D-ring snaffle is made of solid Cuprigan with stainless steel rings. Cuprigan is an alloy of 89% copper, 7% aluminium, 3% iron and 1% zinc. The oxidation process of the material produces a pleasant smell and taste. The anatomical shape follows the form of the horse's mouth, enabling gentle and even pressure distribution. The combination of the shape and the unique composition of Cuprigan stimulates the chewing process and salivation, which can create a pleasant connection with the sensitive horse's mouth. The bit has a soft action on the mouth. The mouthpiece is 12 mm thick and the bit rings have a diameter of 65x50 mm.
A D-ring snaffle has D-rings that cannot rotate freely. This means aids act more directly. This bit type is generally well accepted because the mouthpiece sits relatively firmly in the mouth. Through the D shape the rider cannot pull the bit through the mouth and the horse remains easy to steer. The bit is therefore also suitable for young horses.
With a double-jointed bit the mouthpiece consists of three parts. The middle part of the mouthpiece lies flat on the tongue. This creates more pressure on the tongue than with a single-jointed mouthpiece. The stronger the centre piece, the more pressure is exerted on the tongue.
