Schockemöhle Sports Snaffles
No matter which Schockemöhle bridle you choose, they are all made of high-quality leather. The leather is vegetable-tanned, which, in contrast to chrome-tanned leather, has a significantly lower impact on the environment. In addition, vegetable-tanned leather does not cause allergic skin reactions in humans or horses. Schockemöhle Sports therefore attaches particular importance to ensuring that all the materials used in the bridle do not adversely affect health in any way.
Size chart for snaffles
The right bridle size for your horse is one of the most important things to consider when buying a new bridle. As not every warmblood, thoroughbred or pony corresponds to the standard measurements, you should measure your horse's head before buying a noseband. You measure the length of the bridle from the corner of the mouth over the poll to the other corner of the mouth. You can find the right size of Schockemöhle bridle in the table. You can find the right noseband by measuring two finger widths below the cheekbone once round. You can also find the right size in the table.

Schockemöhle Sports Equitus Snaffles
The Equitus models are probably the best-known Schockemöhle snaffles. They ensure less pressure on the horse's neck, nerves and blood vessels. They also allow the horse to breathe freely. A curved noseband bypasses the cheekbone and the horse's main facial nerve. An anatomical headpiece minimises the pressure on the nuchal ligament and the atlas joint and at the same time provides sufficient space for the ears. The bit is stabilised by short cheek pieces, as excessive vibrations are prevented. Thanks to the cut of the Equitus bridle, the effect on the bit is also transferred to the horse's nose as gentle pressure. This creates a fine communication. The Equitus line includes snaffles with and without locking straps, as well as double bridles. There is also a model with a lambskin pad to protect very sensitive horse heads.
How do I fit Equitus snaffles correctly?
In order to properly utilise the advantages of the Schockemöhle Sports Equitus bridle, the snaffle or curb bit must fit your horse correctly. The exit point of the main facial nerve must remain free with any type of bridle. You will find it above and about two finger widths away from the cheekbone. Roughly adjust the bridle first and then bridle your horse.
Close the throat lash first and make sure you leave a hand's width of space between the horse's head and the strap. Now adjust the height of the noseband and the cheek pieces attached to it so that a crease (a rough, generally used indication is one to three creases in the corner of the mouth) forms in the corner of the mouth. The noseband is also two finger widths below the cheekbone when correctly adjusted.
You can also adjust the cheek pieces in the lower area. You can then close the noseband. If the length is correct, you can slide two fingers between the nosepiece and the bridge of the nose. The browband must not restrict the freedom of the ears. Here too, there should be room for two fingers between the browband and the forehead.
Schockemöhle Sports Anatomic Line Snaffles
"More comfort through less pressure" is the motto of Schockemöhle's anatomical snaffles. A softly lined headpiece with a front connection bypasses the neckband and atlas joint. This significantly reduces pressure in these areas. It also offers plenty of ear clearance. The cut-out noseband has enough room for the cheekbone and bit. The headpiece and noseband are pre-shaped so that they sit comfortably on the horse's head from the very first day of riding.
Schockemöhle Sports Select & Mix Snaffles
The Select & Mix series gives you the opportunity to put together a customised bridle for your horse. You can choose from many individual parts with anatomical properties to find the perfect customised snaffle or curb bit for your horse. You have the choice and can very quickly turn a Swedish-combined snaffle into a Mexican snaffle without having to forego the advantages of an anatomical headpiece. Double bridles are also available in this range.
