Perfect grip for riders

Roeckl riding gloves

Roeckl Sports is the glove specialist from Munich, and for many riders a pair of Roeckl gloves is simply part of the kit. Here you will find Roeckl riding gloves for every season: the classic Roeck-Grip, lined and windproof winter models, thin summer gloves with mesh, robust all-rounders for the stable and lungeing, and models for children. For an overview of all brands, see the category Riding gloves.

Roeck-Grip: the classic

Roeckl calls the Roeck-Grip "the unmistakable original". The ROECK-GRIP® synthetic suede is breathable, elastic and supple, fits like a second skin and still gives you plenty of grip and feel on the reins. According to the manufacturer, the pieces are sewn by hand with a seam tolerance of no more than one millimetre. The classic comes in several versions: the Roeck-Grip Winter with fleece inside, the Roeck-Grip Lite with a light mesh back for summer, the Roeck-Grip Pro and the Roeck-Grip Junior for children. Models such as Malta and Lona use the same material with their own look; the Malta is also available as Malta Winter.

Warm through the winter

When it is cold in the stable in the morning, lined and windproof gloves help. In the Roeck-Grip Winter and Malta Winter, the Roeck-Grip material is laminated with a warm lining. Wattens Winter, Jardy and Julia have a windproof, breathable back made of ROECK-PROOF. Jardy and Julia are cut for women's hands; the Jardy is decorated with Swarovski crystals. The Wisbech from the ECO.SERIES has a back made of a three-layer softshell laminate with 87% recycled polyester, is windproof and water-repellent and, thanks to ALL-WEATHER-GRIP, holds the reins even in the wet. Warwick and Weldon are made entirely of Polartec Power Stretch Pro, the Warwick in the heavy 312-gram quality. For the transitional season and winter days that are not too cold, Roeckl recommends the Willow.

Light for summer and the indoor arena

Thin, airy models are designed for warm days and the indoor arena. Laila and Moyo have a back made of suntan™ mesh, the Montreal uses coldblack® Lycra with micro mesh. The Melbourne has a particularly thin ROECK-AIR palm with fine feel on the reins; the Roeck-Grip Lite combines the Roeck-Grip palm with a light mesh back. The Lynn is a slip-on glove without hook-and-loop closure, designed for women's hands.

For the stable, lungeing and everyday use

Not every glove needs to be delicate. According to Roeckl, the Milas is very hard-wearing and is also suitable for lungeing, loading and stable work. The DURADERO palm is robust, and the thumbs and palms are additionally fitted with SILICONE-GRIP. The Meura is an all-rounder for the stable and the saddle. If you use your phone in the stable, look for "Touchscreen compatible": this applies, for example, to Wisbech, Weldon, Millero, Melbourne and Roeck-Grip Lite. You will find matching lunge lines under Lunge lines and reins under Reins.

Roeckl for children

For small hands there is the Roeck-Grip Junior, the original in a small size. There is also the Kelli with a wide hook-and-loop strap that is easy to use, the airy Tryon for summer and the Kylemore winter glove made of Eco Micro Fleece with silicone grip. The Kylemore is available in sizes 4 to 7. Children's hands grow quickly, so check the size before each season.

The right size

Roeckl measures in glove sizes. According to the manufacturer, the Roeck-Grip Winter and the Roeck-Grip Pro are available in eleven sizes from 6.0 to 11.0. A riding glove should fit snugly without constricting the fingers. Winter gloves are a little bulkier, so check the length at the fingertips. You can see which sizes are currently available with each item.

Care

According to the manufacturer, many Roeckl models can be machine-washed at 30 °C, for example Malta, June, Lorraine, Milas, Wisbech and Kylemore. Close the hook-and-loop fastener first and let the gloves air-dry, not on the radiator. The exact instructions are given with the item.

Matching items for the cold season

Warm gloves go well with hats, headbands and scarves, riding socks and jumpers and sweatshirts. You will find jackets for winter under Winter jackets. Willow and Weldon have reflective design elements. For more visibility in the dark there are reflective items, and more tips in the guide Riding in winter. Riding gloves are also a popular gift; you will find more ideas under Gifts for riders.
