QHP turnout rugs at a glance
According to the manufacturer, QHP turnout rugs are waterproof and breathable. A water column of 3,000 mm is stated. Most models have cross surcingles, elastic leg straps, a tail flap and D-rings to which you can attach a separate neck cover.
Filling: rain sheet or winter rug?
- 0 g: rain sheet without filling to protect against wet and wind
- 50 to 150 g: light to medium filling for the transitional season and cool, wet days
- 200 to 300 g: warm winter rug for frost, clipped horses or horses that feel the cold
- Fleece lining: adds a little warmth without filling
Denier: 600D or 1200D
The denier number describes how robust the outer fabric is. The higher the value, the more tear-resistant the rug. QHP uses 600D ripstop for the basic models and particularly hard-wearing 1200D ripstop for the Collection rugs.
With or without neck
Depending on the model, there is a fixed neck, a half neck for protection against wind or a detachable neck cover that you attach to the D-rings. For horses with a broad front, such as Friesians and baroque horses, there are the Big Neck models with a more generous cut at the neck and chest.
Care
According to the manufacturer, QHP turnout rugs are machine washable at 30 degrees. Don't use fabric softener, don't tumble dry the rug and don't have it dry-cleaned. Close all fastenings before washing. How to reproof the rug after washing is stated on the care product.
Turnout rugs, stable rugs, coolers and more from other brands can be found in our horse rugs.
That depends on coat, clipping and weather. A rain sheet with 0 g protects against wet and wind, 50 to 150 g is suitable for the transitional season, 200 to 300 g for frost or clipped horses. Watch your horse and feel under the rug whether it is sweating or cold.
According to the QHP size chart, the total length is measured from the centre of the chest to the end of the hindquarters. You measure the back length from the withers to the base of the tail. The table on the product shows which back length matches which total length, for example 165 cm total length to 125 cm back length. Check for each model which measurement the size selection shows.
D stands for denier, a measure of the yarn thickness of the outer fabric. 1200D is more robust and tear-resistant than 600D and suits horses that play a lot in the herd. 600D is lighter.
A neck cover additionally protects the neck and mane from rain and cold, for example for clipped horses or horses that feel the cold. QHP offers models with a fixed neck, a half neck or a detachable neck cover that you attach to the D-rings.
According to the manufacturer, in the machine at 30 degrees, without fabric softener, no tumble drying and no dry cleaning. Brush out loose hair first and close all fastenings. Reproof the rug as needed with a product for waterproof, breathable rugs.
Yes. There are Falabella rugs, a foal rug that is adjustable in length, and Big Neck models with a wider cut for Friesians and baroque horses.
