Description
This Bemelmans Weymouth enables particularly sensitive aids that meet the highest demands. Through the optimal adaptation of the Bemelmans Weymouth to the horse’s mouth, horses come well onto the hand. The Weymouth is soft in the transitions and the mouthpiece, which is shaped after the sensitive palatal arch, tapers towards the centre.
The high and forward-angled port creates space for thick tongues. When the Weymouth is accepted, this special shape creates even, soft pressure distribution on the tongue. This makes this Weymouth ideal for horses with fleshy, thick tongues as well as for sensitive horses that evade pressure on the tongue by raising or sticking it out. Thanks to the longer lever travel the action sets in slightly later compared with short shanks. At the same time you can if needed apply a little more pressure to the poll.
Where the Weymouth is fitted, the horse’s mouth tends to be somewhat narrower. We therefore recommend choosing the Weymouth ½ to 1 cm smaller than the bradoon. It is important that the side pieces of the Weymouth sit closely against the corners of the mouth. If there is too much play between the corner of the mouth and the side piece, the Weymouth can lock or also tilt.
The curb chain should be adjusted so that an angle of about 30 to 45 degrees is possible between the corner of your horse’s mouth and the lower shank.
