The Velari Full Cheek Flex Soft with tongue relief
was developed for horses that need calm, clear communication and a gentle introduction to constant rein contact. It combines structural stability, high sensory comfort and thoughtful pressure distribution – a trusting choice for horse and rider.
The full-cheek construction is a reliable companion for horses that are still learning to respond to lateral rein aids. The fixed side pieces work calmly with the rider's hand and offer supportive guidance that feels stable and even rather than abrupt. For young or inexperienced horses this reliability helps build trust in the contact. At the same time the stability of the side pieces prevents the mouthpiece from moving unnecessarily and thereby encourages relaxed chewing as well as willingness to accept the bridle. The rider also benefits: precise aids are easier to give when the mouthpiece stays constantly positioned. This creates a calm and uninterrupted connection throughout the training session.
Velari's Flex Soft material is particularly suitable for horses that have shown resistance or tension with conventional metal bits. The outer layer consists of a smooth, pollutant-free synthetic compound that glides gently over the sensitive tissue in the mouth and protects the sensitive structures during everyday work. Underneath is a flexible core that adapts sufficiently to the natural movements of the horse's mouth without losing the stability required for clear communication. Horses that tense with harder materials or push against the bit often show clear relaxation with Flex Soft – they salivate more freely and accept the contact with calm naturalness.
The tongue relief provides additional precision and relief that is particularly beneficial for horses with a sensitive tongue. Instead of pressing evenly across the entire tongue, the tongue relief creates space in the middle area, directing the pressure more strongly onto the bars. This can help horses that tend towards tongue evasion, sticking the tongue out or coming behind the rein. Care & use
Rinse the bit after every ride with warm water and dry it with a soft cloth. Store it in a dry place and check it regularly for even and smooth wear. Make sure of the correct positioning of the bit: the star must be on the left side and the Velari logo on the right side.
