Sweat rugs
Good sweat rugs are breathable, comfortable and support healthy perspiration after work. They are usually made of fleece, microfibre or other technical fabrics that make it easier to wick away moisture.

What is a sweat rug?
Is your horse not clipped or does it simply sweat a lot when working? Then you should use a suitable sweat rug so that your horse doesn't get cold in the cold weather.
Sweat rugs and kidney rugs are usually made of a fleece material. However, they are also available in cotton, Dralon, nylon or microfibre. The material transports moisture from the inside to the outside and thus dries the coat. You can observe this on very cold days with very sweaty horses in the arena: The moisture settles on the top of the rug like hoar frost, while the coat dries underneath.
There are also sweat rugs with a fur edge to protect the withers of sensitive horses from chafing. These are also particularly stylish and very popular as competition rugs. Make sure that your sweat rug fits well. Most sweat rugs for horses have a tail cord and cross surcingles for this purpose. The belly straps are often removable and can be individually adjusted. This prevents the sweat rugs from getting rusty.
