The Sweet Iron bits are made of iron and have a recognisable blue colour. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture, which tastes sweet and naturally stimulates saliva production. The horse will foam more, making it accept the bit better.
A pump curb bit is used together with a snaffle bit, the so-called double bridle. This combination is used in the higher dressage classes. The pump effect creates more movement in the bit. The horse can lift the bit slightly to reduce the pressure on the tongue. The curb bit is a bit with a leverage effect. The longer the shanks, the sharper the effect. The pump curb bit has long shanks and is therefore a stronger bit than the baby pump curb bit. A special bridle or an additional cheekpiece is required for a double bridle combination. In addition, this bit must always be combined with a chin chain to prevent the bit from rotating too far in the horse's mouth. This bit is not suitable for the inexperienced rider.
This bit is a straight bar with a small tongue clearance. The tongue clearance allows the tongue to move freely. The tongue clearance creates space for the tongue and reduces the pressure on the centre of the horse's tongue. More tongue freedom is ideal for horses that have a sensitive tongue or horses that stick out their tongue. This bit is not suitable for the inexperienced rider.
