The stirrup length is adjusted with the stirrup leather first from the ground. To do this, place your fingers on the U-lock with your arm stretched out. The stirrup step should be in the armpit. Once you have mounted, you can check the correct stirrup length from the horse's back. To do this, let your legs hang loosely on the horse. The stirrup should end at your ankle level.
Stirrups cannot be attached to the saddle without stirrup leathers. Stirrup leathers are usually made of high-quality leather and come in brown or black. To attach the stirrup to the saddle, first thread the stirrup onto the strap. Now take the end with the holes and pull it through the stirrup lock from bottom to top. This can be a bit fiddly at times. Make sure the inside of the strap is facing you. Once you have pulled the stirrup leather through, you can simply close it. Another possibility is to first lock the strap with the shackle on it and then pull it from the back to the front over the shackle lock. To do this, you first have to fold the safety bar on the stirrup attachment straight. Now you can pull the loop from the back to the front and fold the safety bar back up. A little hint: always keep this joint on the stirrup hanger clean and flexible so it can fold down if you get caught in the stirrup. This allows the strap to detach from the hanger bracket and your foot is free. Also important: You should regularly swap the left stirrup leather with the right strap. Because by mounting the horse on the left side, the leather gets longer and longer and the length no longer fits. Before you have to make new holes in the straps, simply swap them over so that the right strap can lengthen as well.
