The breastplate complements the horse's equipment. The breastplate prevents, among other things, the saddle from slipping backwards during the jumping phase or triggering pressure at certain points. Safety is the top priority when riding. With the use of the so-called breastplate, you can significantly increase your own safety, but also that of the horse.
The breastplate consists of a ring that is loosely placed around the neck. Attached to it is a strap on each side for attachment to the saddle girth. A wide strap leads between the front legs to the metal ring on the girth. On some breastplates, two short straps also lead to the D-rings, to which the Maria aid strap is also attached. Most breastplates come with a martingale fork. The Ingrid Klimke breastplate has an additional neck ring. The breastplate is made of leather, which is soft and robust. Or it consists of synthetic material, which is often kept in signal colors to improve the visibility of the horse. The breastplate is also available with lambskin to protect contact points from chafing.
