Novocontact bits have a wide contact surface when the bit is in the horse's mouth with slight pressure on the reins. If you now take the reins harder, the mouthpiece rotates forward. In this way you reduce the contact surface in the short term and can use your aids particularly effectively. Of course, you shouldn't maintain the tension in this situation, but have to give in again and again to bring the bit into the starting position. Sprenger has carried out extensive tests with this type of bit and it turned out that they correspond to the latest scientific knowledge and are suitable for every type of horse.
The single-jointed Novocontact bits are particularly suitable for horses that don't approach the hand properly. This bit is particularly advantageous for very sensitive horses, as the impact can be soft but targeted. This turned out to be the case in extensive tests.
The double-jointed Novocontact bits have proven to be particularly suitable for horses that occasionally get strong and go against the hand, but are too sensitive for bits that seem stronger.
During the Sprenger Novocontact series is also available Double bit, which are particularly suitable for horses that tend to stick their tongues out. The enlarged contact surface on the tongue results in a soft distribution of pressure in the horse's mouth. The Novocontact bridles have a large contact surface despite the low thickness of 12mm. In connection with a double bridle, the innovative shape enables optimal use of the small space in the horse's mouth. At a Pelham bit this series is similar. As with ordinary Pelham bits, the pressure is distributed over the tongue, poll and lower jaw of the horse. However, the wide contact surface on the tongue again ensures a soft effect, which is briefly strengthened with increased rein acceptance.
